It Ain’t Easy Being Blue
Don’t Get Me Wrong…
As a former SF Giants fan and a come-to-be fan of a real team… The World Champion Los Angeles Dodgers, I watched this season with delight as we (The Dodgers) did our baseball season dance with “The Hated Ones” (SF Giants). I saw the Giants in a new light, as the arrogant team they are with very self-absorbed players. Maybe before this season it was as if I couldn’t see the forest from the trees; however, I have truly seen the light… I cannot back the Giants ever again. I also saw something else… Kaplan is playing Dodgers baseball. This is the first season I have ever seen the Giants play an actual bullpen game (thank you Roberts for showing the benefits of doing this). I was not an early believer of bullpen games, but if we did not do our bullpen games… Urias, Bickford, Kelly, etc. would not be as dependable as they are. In the beginning of the season, we were even doubting that Urias could even start… and now he’s one of our best starters. So… don’t get me wrong when I say, “It ain’t easy being blue”, it’s an honor being blue.
Beat LA???
This season has been a roller coaster of emotions. It’s really shown me who our rivals are… pretty much everyone. It’s quite funny how we live rent free in peoples heads. While watching highlights of multiple baseball teams this year, I could clearly hear the fans chanting… Beat LA. Even when we weren’t playing them or even having a chance of playing them, it made me wonder, “Why does everyone hate us?” I totally understand that we won the World Series last season and that we are the World Champion LA Dodgers, but I don’t ever recall non-rival fans chanting “Beat SF” while they were the champions, even when they were calling themselves “A Legacy”. So, what makes everyone hate LA… the team? Of course, this is a hypothetical question that only those fans can answer, and I am sure their answers would vary. But why let us live rent free in your heads season to season? It makes zero sense, well to me at least.
Rivals Meet Again in the Race for the NLDS
So, it is now October and SF likes to claim that they ARE October. Well… we’ll see about that. I am not making any predictions, because both teams are outstanding… this season. If this were any other season, all my bets would be on LA. However, Kaplan is playing Dodgers baseball and that makes things a bit more interesting. Let’s see if SF can keep up with us. Even with Kershaw on the injury list, we still have a stellar team. Friday and Saturday we are meeting up in SF for games one and two of the NLDS series. Then Monday and Tuesday we are back on our home field in the amazing Chavez Ravine to, hopefully, close this series out with a big fat win. Sites are predicting we take the series in four. I say, let’s play ball… have fun… and BEAT SF!!!!!
