Walking with Purpose:
How Baseball, Community, and Resilience Keep Bill Moving Forward
For most people, walking from Dodger Stadium to Yankee Stadium sounds impossible — but for Bill, it’s a symbol of everything he’s overcome, and everything still worth fighting for. A pancreatic cancer survivor, lifelong baseball fan, and proud founder of the Top Fan Rivalry community, Bill is taking on his most meaningful challenge yet: walking the equivalent distance between two of baseball’s most iconic ballparks to raise awareness and support for Project Purple, a nonprofit dedicated to finding a cure for pancreatic cancer and improving the lives of patients and their families.
Project Purple funds critical research, provides financial assistance to patients, and works to raise awareness for a disease that remains one of the deadliest forms of cancer. For Bill, their mission hits close to home — and so does the need to make a difference.
The idea started with a simple but powerful goal — to turn passion into purpose. “Baseball has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember,” Bill shared. “And this incredible Top Fan Rivalry community pushes me to go further every day. I’m living proof that with enough support, passion, and determination, you can accomplish anything.”
To date, Bill has logged over 1,100 miles and more than 2.3 million steps — but this journey is about far more than numbers. Each step is a reminder of the fight he faced, the people still battling this disease, and the strength that comes from community. He purposely walks at the mall next to the chemo center where he underwent treatment, a constant reminder of where he’s been and how far he’s come.
“There are tough days, physically and emotionally,” he admits. “But when I pass that chemo center, it reminds me why I’m doing this. And the support from the TFR community keeps me going — your encouragement means more than you know.”
The partnership between Top Fan Rivalry and Project Purple came to life through a personal connection at Bill’s chemo center, proving once again that the power of community extends far beyond the baseball field. “More than ever, I feel this urgency to build something lasting,” Bill says of his vision for TFR. “To create a space where people come together, not just as fans, but as family.”
For those facing similar battles — whether in health or in life — Bill offers simple but powerful advice, quoting his favorite movie, Rocky:
"It ain’t about how hard you hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done."
Bill’s journey is a reminder that life’s biggest challenges are no match for hope, community, and the belief that, step by step, we all have the strength to keep moving forward.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world.
